Wychwood Inc. is a small family company that started out in the UK in 1964 by Reg and Ann Henley, they worked out of their back yard producing goldfish, and other pond fish and pond associated plants.

In 1972 they moved with their daughter Clair to Odiham in Hampshire and started the first intensive course fish farm in the UK.  The company was named Wychwood Carp Farm and started the production of food carp and ornamental fish including Koi, Golden Orfe, Goldfish, Shubunkins, Sarasa Comets, Tench and other popular ornamental fish.  The farm also included a medium sized collection of hardy waterlilies that Reg and Ann had collected over the years.

Through the years the emphasis on fish declined and the production of plants became the main objective, with the farm producing the largest production of water iris seed and selling to the trade.  The company was still open to the public selling waterlilies, water iris, marginal plants and oxygenating plants on a daily basis.  Also mail order was put into practice with sales going all over the UK and also to Europe.

In 1993, Reg and Ann gave Clair the Waterlily Collection that they had been building since 1963.  Clair then went on to increase the number of varieties held to almost 400 different varieties.  These included extremely rare varieties collected from Botanical Gardens and other collectors throughout the world.  The collection became known as the "Odiham Waterlily Collection" and became popular with visitors throughout the world.

Also in 1993, Reg, Ann and Clair perfected the product they called the Water Wych (pronounced Witch).  This was an all natural product that they used to keep the ponds in the newly constructed Waterlily Collection free from Algae.  It had taken 10 years to perfect and they had to keep it natural as the nursery was registered organic.

The Water Wych was slowly introduced to the public and then became popular in Europe and Ireland, finally being introduced in the USA.  As popularity increased it became necessary to move production to the United States, so in 2001 the Henley's started the move to California.  The move included all the waterlilies and some other selected water iris, the Water Wych and the two German Shepherds.

Now the families are in the process of moving to Washington State, where the waterlilies will have a better growing environment, so for now please be patient with us as we may be on the road when you try to contact us.
